Jagdeep Rai is Barclays Corporate Area Director for the Heathrow and Slough team, based at 1 World Business Centre, Heathrow. She is responsible for the leadership of 20 employees aimed at delivering banking solutions and services for companies which turn over £5m+ across a range of diverse industries, and over a wide geographical area.
Jagdeep has worked for Barclays for 16 years, having joined as a law graduate in 1995. She spent the early part of her career in the Thames Valley area, before she moved to the City and West End, undertaking a number of diverse roles. Through this background and experience it was here she developed her strong leadership skills by managing large teams in the Retail and Premier arms of Barclays.
Recently, Jagdeep has been instrumental in establishing a Heathrow and Slough professional and corporate business community, by initiating two independent 'Forum' events at Heathrow, bringing together distinguished panellists of business and market experts, and the local professional community, to debate and discuss the issues of the day.
Jagdeep feels strongly about Barclays and her own citizenship agenda and has led her team on a number of local charity initiatives over many years, most recently by taking part in The Three Peaks Challenge, which raised over £18,000 including matched fundraising from Barclays Community Investment Programme. Jagdeep not only volunteers her time, but encourages her team to do so as well, by offering both time and expertise to benefit local community projects.
Jagdeep firmly believes in releasing an individual's full potential and is passionate about helping people become the best they can be. To this end, she actively mentors a number of colleagues and individual's internally and outside Barclays, and gains immense personal satisfaction from seeing them thrive, develop and grow in self -confidence as they progress through their lives and meet their career aspirations.
Throughout her time in Barclays, Jagdeep has continued her own personal development and learning by becoming ACIB (Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers) and CEMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) qualified.
