Mr Gurdip Singh Gujral, CBE, comes from an agricultural religious family background in Punjab, India.
He did his graduation in India and came to England in 1965 with his wife and eight month old son. His first job was as a labourer in a factory earning £8.50 per week.
He then became a market trader in Petticoat Lane, selling brass trinkets and ethnic garments.
After many years of market trading, he slowly and steadily built up a ready made garment business importing from his native India ans wholesaling around the country.
He is a member of various social, cultural and educational organisations.
He is President of the International Punjab Society (European Division).
President of the Nargis Dutt Society for Cancer Research and Relief.
Her Majesty The Queen has honoured him with the CBE (Commander of the Order of British Empire) in the 1998 New Year's Honours List.
His philosophy of life is 'The better the other man is, the faster we both run'.
